In 1997, a global phenomenon was created when everyone sang along to the lines “I’m a Barbie Girl, in the Barbie World.” Now, in 2024, “Barbie Girl” is still found on top charts around the world. AQUA is also nominated for three Grammys for their outstanding collaboration on the song “Barbie Girl” with Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice. AQUA is ready to conquer the world once again with their energetic live performances, and on October 28, AQUA takes the stage at Cirkus in Stockholm for an unforgettable evening.
No other group represents the late 90s like the Danish dance-pop group AQUA. The group broke through in 1997 with their debut album “Aquarium.” The album included hit songs like ‘Turn Back Time,’ ‘Doctor Jones,’ and the global hit ‘Barbie Girl,’ which quickly spread like wildfire worldwide. Thanks to the doll-centered story and the entertaining music video, which perfectly matched the playful aesthetics of the 90s, the single “Barbie Girl” soared to the top of the charts worldwide and became an instant classic.
The group has sold 38 million albums, 7 million singles, and belongs to the absolute elite in music. In early 2022, the music video for Barbie Girl surpassed one billion views on YouTube and is still among the most used songs on Instagram Reels globally.
