Archive: De Va Dä, Dä – A Tribute Concert to Pugh Rogefeldt

About the show
DE VA DÄ, DÄ is a tribute concert in memory of Pugh Rogefeldt at Cirkus in Stockholm on October 18, 2023. Some of Sweden's biggest artists will participate along with Fredrik Lindström as the host. Tickets release Thursday, June 29 at 10.00 via Livenation.se.
Many are extremely grateful for what Torbjörn “Pugh” Rogefeldt accomplished during his long career. Pugh was a constant seeker who wrote Swedish rock history. In many ways, he created the Swedish rock history as we know it. He was the one who invented the art form of modern rock in Swedish. Now it is too late to thank him face-to-face for his work. But on October 18, the next best thing happens at Cirkus in Stockholm: a cross-section of the best in Swedish pop/rock/progg/soul/folk will give the icon from Västerås appreciation through a tribute concert together with Sweden's biggest artists.
At Cirkus, in the auditorium where Pugh made his very last stage performance almost exactly four years earlier – before an incurable nerve disease completely took over and finally took him away on May 1 this year – all aspects of his mighty song catalog will now be interpreted by artists from the mentioned genres. Backed by a band that is essentially the same as the one that accompanied him that time in 2019.
In the lineup are established stars who were inspired back then when Pugh released his groundbreaking debut album “Ja, dä ä dä” in 1969. But also new names who have learned to appreciate his work and attitude much later.
In the setlist, there are of course beloved cornerstones like “Små lätta moln” and “Här kommer natten”, but also surprising choices from the more cult-stamped part of Pugh's repertoire. Just as it should be when the task is to celebrate Sweden's number one cult artist in popular music.
The initiative is taken by two who have been involved from the start: Bo Frölander, a friend of Pugh and once a drummer in his first two bands, Hjärtats Ungar and Rainrock, together with live legend Thomas Johansson, then new in the industry at EMA, today at Live Nation. The surplus goes directly to the Brain Foundation.
The final concert in October 2019 was a magical evening at a sold-out Cirkus. Now the magic will be repeated with the love for Pugh Rogefeldt and his enormous song treasure as the evening's guiding star.
