About the show
Eric Idle - Always Look on the Bright Side of Life, LIVE!
An evening of comedy, music, philosophy and one fart joke
After a successful tour in England, USA, Australia, and New Zealand, Eric Idle brings his new one man-show to Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Estonia in April and May 2026.
As a rare survivor of pancreatic cancer, he ironically sings “this may be the last time you see me” in an evening filled with daring couplets, sing-alongs, inappropriate comments, memories of fame and wealth, as well as rare film footage and a virtual band.
In this one man-show, Eric Idle, accompanied by The Virtual Band – a kind of Infinite Monkees Cage band – bids a warm farewell to old friends like George Harrison, Robin Williams, and Neil Innes with unique footage and a tribute to The Rutles, the Beatles parody Eric Idle created which was the world’s first mockumentary about “the pre-fab four Dirk, Nasty, Stig and Barry”.
The show also reveals how he accidentally ended up in comedy in 1963 and has since failed to get out of it. “Unfortunately, I can’t find the exit” says Eric Idle. “My role in life seems to be cheering people up”, he adds gloomily.
Eric Idle – a star known from stage, TV, and crosswords, has often been compared to Noël Coward.
But never in a flattering way.
Now he takes the stage in selected cities around Scandinavia and Estonia and despite all the references, witticisms, and both painfully honest and insanely entertaining stories, the foundation for Eric Idle's one man-show is still: Always look on the bright side of life!
