Archive: Forever Now - Ainbusk, a Tribute

About the show
On December 10, the remaining members of Ainbusk reunite with selected guest artists at Cirkus to honor Ainbusk and remember their beloved friends and members who are no longer with us, Marie Nilsson Lind and Josefin Nilsson.
On Thursday, January 4, 2024, the artist, musician, and songwriter Marie Nilsson Lind passed away, eight years after her sister Josefin. Despite the tragedies that have befallen Ainbusk over the years, the group has always been a warm and stable force on the Swedish music scene. Their music has the ability to transport us through time, back to both bright and dark moments, and reminds us of music's endless power to weave together and express emotions.
On stage during the evening are Melissa Horn, Moonica Mac, Daniel Adams-Ray, Babben Larsson, Andreas Mattsson, Johan Norberg, and Tina Ahlin.
“It feels so warm in the heart to stop time for a moment and together with our beloved musicians, friends, and audience to honor, remember, and rejoice in our beloved Marie. Who she was and will forever be. Singing the songs, smiling at the memories. Forever now…
We know, we know that Marie and Josa smile when they look down… and we down here.. call out to heaven.”
– Ainbusk, Annelie Roswall and Bittis Jakobsson
In the fall, new music from Ainbusk will also be released. The song ‘Ängel’ will be released on October 11 and is produced according to arrangements and recordings from Ainbusk's comeback tour at the end of last year.
About Ainbusk
It was in 1983 when the four childhood friends from the village of När on Gotland's southeastern coast—Annelie Roswall, Bittis Jakobsson, Josefin Nilsson, and Marie Nilsson—decided to realize their shared dreams and formed what would become the iconic group Ainbusk.
Ainbusk was born out of a strong friendship and their love for music and performing arts has always been evident. Their unique combination of Swedish pop songs, influenced by the singer/songwriter tradition and folk music, along with thoughtful and sometimes dark humor, has captivated and touched the entire Swedish population for decades.
Their journey took off seriously in 1984 when they won the national final in 'Talent -84' at the China Theater in Stockholm. In 1990, they released the show MoreAmore, from which songs like 'Lassie' and 'Älska Mig' became big hits, created in collaboration with Benny Andersson. It marked the start of Ainbusk's major breakthrough.
In the following years, the group toured extensively across the country several times and staged about ten appreciated shows. They also released four full-length albums, while Josefin Nilsson made significant strides in the film world with two of Sweden's most successful films at the time. In 2003, Ainbusk celebrated their 20th anniversary with a compilation album and anniversary performances around Sweden. The last performance as a group took place in August 2008.
In 2015, Marie and Josefin reunited to create the show Sisters Sisters. Just a year later, in 2016, the tragic news came that Josefin had passed away. In 2019, the acclaimed SVT documentary Älska Mig followed, and in 2020, a memorial concert and a book release were held in her honor.
Over the years, Ainbusk has collaborated with a number of prominent artists, including Benny Andersson and Bernt Staf. They have received several prestigious awards, including the Povel Ramel's Karamelodiktstipendium, Guldmasken, Svenska Dagbladet's Nils Poppe Prize, and Tage Danielsson's scholarship. Josefin has also received the Ulla Billquist scholarship and Marie the Jacob Dahlin scholarship.
In 2023, Ainbusk made a comeback as a trio and managed to complete a tour before Marie suddenly passed away at the beginning of 2024.
