About the show
The American singer-songwriter John Hiatt returns to Sweden with a treasure trove of songs that have left a lasting and significant mark on American roots, folk, and rock music. Experience him live at Cirkus on June 24.
For over five decades, John Hiatt has been a central figure on the American music scene. With more than 20 studio albums under his belt and a songwriting catalog interpreted by legends like Bonnie Raitt, Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, and Willie Nelson, Hiatt is considered one of his generation's most influential and respected songwriters.
The breakthrough came in 1987 with the critically acclaimed album Bring the Family, recorded with Ry Cooder, Nick Lowe, and Jim Keltner. The album contains timeless classics like “Have a Little Faith in Me” and “Thing Called Love” and marked the start of a long period of both artistic and critical success.
Since then, Hiatt has continued to release a series of acclaimed albums, including Slow Turning, Perfectly Good Guitar, and the Grammy-nominated Crossing Muddy Waters. In recent years, he has shown no signs of slowing down, with releases like Terms of My Surrender and Leftover Feelings – a collaboration with Jerry Douglas – which also earned a Grammy nomination.
As a member of the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame and recipient of the Americana Music Association's Lifetime Achievement Award for Songwriting, John Hiatt is known for his lyrical depth, sharp humor, and rare ability to unite the personal with the universal in his music.
