Archive: Jorge Drexler – Voice and Guitar

About the show
Klaus Pontvik Art&Com is pleased to present the artist Jorge Drexler Voice and Guitar, a multiple award winner with both an Oscar for Best Song and no less than thirteen Latin Grammys!
The concert will be the only one in Sweden at Cirkus in Stockholm.
Jorge Drexler is one of Uruguay's most prominent musicians who has made his mark on the international music scene for more than three decades since he made the decisive decision to leave his life in Uruguay as a doctor and move to Spain to fully devote himself to his passion for music and composition.
Awarded with Grammys and an Oscar
Drexler has released fourteen studio albums. His artistic efforts have earned him public recognition and numerous awards, including an Oscar in 2004 and an impressive collection of thirteen Latin Grammys between 2014 and 2022.
His lyrics, influenced by various fields of knowledge, travel across poetry and science. Whether exploring prose, verse, or décimas, Drexler's passion for language contributes to his mission to build bridges between cultures and promote connections and empathy across societies in the modern world. Drexler's artistic journey is characterized by tireless exploration and a willingness to experiment with music and lyrics. His recent receipt of the 'Premios Ondas 2023' in Spain for Best Performance testifies to the lasting impact of Jorge Drexler's musical legacy.
Best album
After nearly five years of recording hiatus, Jorge Drexler returned in 2022 with his latest album, 'Tinta y Tiempo'. This release has been hailed as one of the most playful and free-spirited albums of his career, showcasing his distinctive elusive melodies and poetic wordplay. The album features collaborations with guest artists such as Ruben Blades, C. Tangana, Noga Erez, and Martín Buscaglia.
Critics have praised 'Tinta y Tiempo' for its richly poetic and ingeniously constructed songs, delivered with Drexler's characteristic amiable understatement. The album's appeal lies in its sophisticated song material, where Drexler's voice, described as a wonderful instrument, can evoke vulnerability, hope, and melancholy within a single verse.
Simultaneously with the album release, Jorge Drexler embarked on an extensive tour that has been highly successful, in both Argentina, USA, Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, and Chile.
European Tour Voice and Guitar
Now Drexler will visit some cities that are usually not on his tour schedule. This time, Drexler presents a solo performance with guitar and voice, fundamental elements in his artistic career and the only ones he really needs to enchant both new and most loyal audiences. He will reconnect with his songs in a closer, intimate, and unique way that encompasses not only his latest album but his entire discography.
