About the show
In Kabaret Jiddisch, Sofia Berg-Böhm, Anne Kalmering, Nils Harning, Miriam Oldenburg, and Rimma Gotskosik revive the cabaret tradition from Warsaw, Odessa, Paris, Vilnius, New York, and bring it to Stockholm 2023. Kabaret Jiddisch features a playlist from some cool girls, salty dames, the uncrowned queens of Yiddish song, and drag kings from the 1920s and 30s when Yiddish cabarets were something everyone wanted to attend, even if they didn't understand Yiddish. Theater songs, folk songs, drag, vaudeville, whatever-you-want mixed with some of Sweden's foremost interpreters of Jewish music today. It will be a generous evening where anything can happen with songs from the past in a new guise.
A bit of cellar theater, a bit of crossdressing, a lot of Yiddish song. And above all: You don't need to know Yiddish to have fun at the cabaret.
