About the show

St. Petersburg is the cradle of the famous Russian ballet created by Marius Petipa in the 20th century. There are many famous theaters in St. Petersburg, such as Mariinsky and Mikhailovsky, but as these very rarely tour outside Russia, few of the world's ballet lovers ever get the chance to see the famous St. Petersburg ballet.

In 2009, the St. Petersburg Festival Ballet was created to tour Europe and the rest of the world. This was to share and represent the best traditions and spirit found in the St. Petersburg ballet. Elegance, style, and delightful lightness are what make the St. Petersburg ballet special. It is strictly classical elegance, a fresh breeze from the 21st century, a perfect dance performance combined with magnificent costumes and an unbeatable stage landscape by the world-renowned set designer Vyacheslav Okunev (Bolshoi Theatre, Mariinsky Theatre, La Scala)

Over the past five years, the St. Petersburg Festival Ballet has toured around Europe. First-class dancers and soloists, captivating stage design combined with impressive lighting design and wonderful music by Tchaikovsky – this is what the St. Petersburg Festival Ballet represents around the world.

The Nutcracker is one of the most popular ballets in the world and has been for over a century. Every year, countless ballet companies around the world perform the famous ballet during the winter months. The wonderful music by Tchaikovsky and the magical performance take us on a Christmas tale that both children and adults look forward to when the snow begins to fall outside.

On Christmas Eve, Marie receives a beautiful Nutcracker as a gift from the mysterious Drosselmeyer.
Suddenly, the Nutcracker and all the other toys under the tree come to life, and the whole room is invaded by an army of uniformed mice. The Nutcracker transforms into a prince who takes Marie to an enchanting fairyland.

Hoffmann's tale tells of a Christmas Eve, where the young Marie goes down to look at her Christmas presents, but instead finds herself suddenly in a magical adventure where the Christmas tree starts to grow and the tin soldiers have come to life to fight the Rat King!
The production tells the story clearly from its mysterious start to its happy ending. After all, it is Tchaikovsky's music that is the most memorable, with a plethora of well-known melodies.
