Archive: OPETH - The Last Will And Testament - European Tour

About the show
Opeth are the Swedish metal giants who have broken new ground since their debut album “Orchid” from 1995. On October 11, the band's long-awaited fourteenth studio album The Last Will & Testament is here and today the first single §1 was released. Now the band announces that they are going on a European tour and on February 11, Opeth returns to home ground for a performance at Cirkus in Stockholm!
Swedish Opeth are today known far beyond Sweden's borders and have been among the most acclaimed and popular bands in progressive metal since their debut. Led by singer Mikael Åkerfeldt, the band has sold out arenas and toured worldwide. Opeth is known for their epic, long, and beautiful works that captivate an audience, both through headphones but not least live.
The Last Will & Testament is a concept album set after World War I and tells the story of a wealthy, conservative patriarch whose last will and testament reveal shocking family secrets. The album is captivating from start to finish. Just like before, the Swedes once again deliver the promise that good music always tells a compelling story – this time with growls.
“I love this record. I have to say it (write it). Maybe I’m proud even? There are some familiar ingredients in there I suppose. Most of our music has sprung from the same source, so I guess it’s not much of a shocker if it’s going to sound like ’us’. I’m a bit in awe of what we did with “The Last Will and Testament”. It feels like a dream. There is some ’coherence’ and ’songwriting skills’ I hope, but what do I know? I tend to favour the ’strange’ over the ’obvious,’ but I feel like I’m in the minority, and that’s fine. So…fair warning! Don’t expect an instant rush (as per usual), but if you do “get it” (have you got it yet?) right away, that’s ok too!” says Mikael Åkerfeldt.
