Archive: RESPECT - A Tribute To Aretha Franklin

About the show
The show starts in Aretha's broad musical spectrum that ranges from gospel to R&B, soul and jazz to pop and dance genres. There is no doubt that this show makes it impossible for the audience to sit still. Something special happens when Aretha's many hits come to life again. Together with singers and a ten-piece big band, the stage is filled with hits like “I Never Loved A Man”, “Respect”, “Chain Of Fools”, “Natural Woman”, “Think”, “Say a Little Prayer” and “Angel” among others.
Six strong and expressive women provide the vocals in the show, with the lead vocals performed by Darnita Rogers. Darnita's background, like several of the show's other singers, comes from gospel. With her powerful voice, great empathy, and not least her love for Aretha Franklin and her music, Darnita Rogers delivers hit after hit.
The dynamics between the singers give the show a fantastic and unique energy that extends far beyond the stage edge. The show also includes several of the duets that Aretha produced with other artists, such as George Michael “I Knew You Were Waiting” and The Eurythmics “Sisters are doin’ it for themselves”.
Aretha's career spanned over 60 decades. She influenced music to a particularly great extent, as she managed to transform gospel into pop music. She was the first “Soul Sister” in the feminist movement and she left her mark on generations of female musicians. Aretha was both political and feminist in her expression. She demanded equality between blacks and whites and between men and women. She demanded RESPECT! Aretha passed away on August 16, 2018, in Detroit after a life with both ups and downs.
RESPECT – A Tribute To Aretha Franklin takes you on a journey through the highlights of her musical career. The show is carried with love and respect for “The Queen of Soul”.
