About the show
Eight years after saying goodbye to the album format with the seductively dark ‘The Inevitable End,’ the pioneers of the Norwegian electronic duo Röyksopp have changed their minds. And we are thankful for that. The double album ‘Profound Mysteries’ released earlier this year is indeed a new, bold chapter in the rarely varied discography that Svein Berge and Torbjørn Brundtland have built ever since their iconically innovative debut album ‘Melody A.M.’ from 2001. The line between pop and art is more blurred than ever as Röyksopp now explores the fringes of their creativity. The musical variation is greater than ever, and the Norwegians still lack opponents when it comes to swinging between melancholic ambience and dance floor-friendly electronic pop. As usual, they also show a keen sense when it comes to recruiting guest vocalists: Karen Harding, Astrid S, and Susanne Sundfør are just a few of the names featured on the new albums. On November 18, the concluding and third part of the new project will be released.
In 2023, Röyksopp will take the Profound Mysteries trilogy on the road, and judging by the visual art that comes with the triple album – each song has its own slightly fantastic short film – the audience can expect an experience beyond the ordinary. On February 16, the reborn Röyksopp will come to Cirkus in Stockholm.
