Soweto Gospel Choir has its roots in the city of Soweto outside Johannesburg. Soweto is also the hometown of Nelson Mandela and South Africa's democratic movement. Soweto Gospel Choir inspires people worldwide with its powerful blend of African gospel, freedom songs, and international classics.
In this uplifting and joyful repertoire, we will experience captivating freedom songs that celebrate the Rainbow Nation's founder Nelson Mandela, international gospel classics including a hair-raising version of Leonard Cohen's 'Hallelujah'. We will also experience an extraordinary rendition of 'Amazing Grace' which has over 17 million views on YouTube.
Soweto Gospel Choir, consisting of South Africa's finest singers, has performed on stage with some of the greatest artists of all time such as U2, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Robert Plant, Celine Dion, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Josh Groban.
