Archive: The One - A Musical by Fredrik Benke Rydman

About the show
A number of dancers are attending the most important audition of their lives, the one for “The One”. The producer and choreographer, played by Christine Meltzer and Erik “Jerka” Johansson, lead the audition and are looking for a star. All the dancers want to win and thereby get the chance for a big breakthrough and gain value in what they consider their exposed and worthless lives. But to get there, they must tell about themselves, and they initially feel hesitant to open up and expose their vulnerability. They are all used to maintaining a facade.
The stories about the dancers' lives are taken from reality. A reality that describes a success-obsessed time that places great demands on young people and their self-esteem.
The One is a modern, newly written musical by Fredrik “Benke” Rydman and Åsa Lindholm with original music by popular Swedish songwriters such as Laleh, Miss Li, Sonny Gustafsson, Linnea Deb, Joy Deb, Lukas Nathanson, and Anton Hård af Segerstad. On stage, we see, among others, R&B star Janice as well as Alvaro Estrella and Isa Tengblad, whom we recognize from Melodifestivalen. In other roles, we see, among others, Erik Johansson from Bonusfamiljen and Christine Meltzer from Sommaren med släkten and Udda veckor.
