The Philip Glass Ensemble - Glassworks and other early works
About the show
Philip Glass is one of the most influential composers of our time, known for his distinctive musical language where repetition and gradual changes create a hypnotic flow. Now his Philip Glass Ensemble (PGE), the foremost performers of Philip Glass's music, are coming to Stockholm.
Since Glass's breakthrough in the 1970s, his works have moved freely between opera, film, dance, and concert music, with iconic titles such asEinstein on the Beach and the music forKoyaanisqatsi. His compositions have not only shaped contemporary music but also changed how we experience time, movement, and storytelling in sound.
Philip Glass Ensemble (PGE) started in New York City in 1968 and developed a completely unique way of performing his works – created to meet the extraordinary technical and artistic demands that the music poses. By pioneering this approach, PGE became a creative source for Glass, and its members are still unparalleled interpreters of his works.
Experiencing PGE live is to come as close to the core of Philip Glass's music as possible – a rare and immersive concert experience. Now PGE is coming to Cirkus to create such an experience where masterful talent balances with emotional tones.
