About the show
It is difficult to overestimate The Tallest Man On Earth's significance for the indie folk revival during the 00s and 10s. The man behind the alias, Kristian Matsson, showed that if the craftsmanship is good enough and the lyrics compelling enough, even century-old music can catapult far beyond discussions of now and then and straight into the heart of the present. So when Matsson dipped Bob Dylan in the Östradalälven, a timeless world emerged in which the artist, like a vagabond, has since explored the world inside and outside—effortlessly balancing between fantasy and lived experiences.
Today, The Tallest Man On Earth's music may sometimes include brass, strings, and synths, but the engine remains his dynamic and temperamental acoustic guitar and his soulfully crackling voice. In other words, Kristian Mattson continues to create the greatest of emotions with the smallest of means.
Today, The Tallest Man On Earth is one of the world's most appreciated singer-songwriters and thus one of our country's major musical successes, a journey that began back in 2006 with the self-titled debut EP. But it was with the album 'Shallow Grave' (2008) that the major breakthrough came.
Matsson was praised by the influential music site Pitchfork and opened for Bon Iver, and since then he has never stopped. Three more albums have followed, with the latest 'I love you. It's a fever dream' (2019) showing an artist who delved deeper into himself than ever before. On September 23, The Tallest Man On Earth releases the cover album 'Too Late For Edelweiss'. Judging by the outstanding interpretations of Hank Williams' 'Lost Highway', Yo La Tengo's 'Tears Are In Your Eyes', Lucinda Williams' 'Metal Firecracker', and TTMOE's constant intro song 'Too Late for Edelweiss', there is much to look forward to.
In May, The Tallest Man On Earth will perform three shows at home—May 3 at Plan B in Malmö, May 6 and 7 at Cirkus in Stockholm, and May 9 at Pustervik in Gothenburg.
