“Weird Al” Yankovic brings his tour “The Unfortunate Return of the Ridiculously Self-Indulgent, Ill-Advised Vanity Tour” to Europe next year! Five-time Grammy winner and the best-selling comedy artist in history brings his stripped-down show to Cirkus in Stockholm on March 1, 2023!
During the tour, Al and his band will avoid their classic theatrics (no costumes, no props, no video screens) and instead focus on works that the audience doesn't usually get to experience, as well as fan favorites in their original manner, rather than his usual parodies. Due to the stripped-down nature of the show, Yankovic will perform in more intimate settings.
The tour “The Unfortunate Return of the Ridiculously Self-Indulgent, Ill-Advised Vanity Tour” marks Weird Al's long-awaited return to the world stage after his successful “Strings Attached” tour in 2019, where he performed each night with a world-renowned symphony orchestra. Followed by his 133 performances of the Ill-Advised Vanity Tour in North America during 2022, which concluded on October 29 in New York at the world-famous Carnegie Hall.
FEW WOULD HAVE GUESSED that “Weird Al” Yankovic – who as a shy, accordion-playing teenager got his start sending in homemade tapes to the Dr. Demento Radio Show – would go on to become a pop culture icon and the biggest-selling comedy recording artist of all time, with classic song and music video parodies such as “Eat It,” “Like a Surgeon,” “Smells Like Nirvana,” “Amish Paradise,” “White & Nerdy” and “Word Crimes.” Now in his fourth decade as America’s foremost song parodist, he has been the recipient of numerous awards, including five Grammys® (out of sixteen total nominations) and a string of Gold and Platinum albums totaling over 12 million in career sales.
Weird Al’s 2014 release Mandatory Fun was the first comedy album in history to debut at #1 on Billboard’s Top 200. He is one of only three artists to have had their own Billboard Top 40 singles in each of the last four decades, the other two being Michael Jackson and Madonna.
EMO PHILIPS has performed over 7000 stand-up comedy shows across the globe, including a two-week theater run in London’s West End. Career highlights include his acclaimed comedy album E=MO Squared and the hour-long HBO special Emo Philips Live at the Hasty Pudding Theatre. Emo is especially proud, however, of when he got to demonstrate the proper use of a table saw to Weird Al in the film The Vidiot From UHF.
